The sCharger-12 is a high end solar charger designed to quickly charge larger USB tablet devices such as the 2.1 Amp compatible iPad. The sCharger-12 is also compatible with other leading USB tablets and portable devices including iPod, iPhone, Android devices, GoPro and Contour cameras, eReaders, and many more.
Designed and built in the USA with the same reliability and durability as our famous sCharger-5. We use only the best quality parts and highest efficiency cells available. This helps keep the sCharger-12 compact in size yet output high amounts of power. The sCharger-12 also uses a rigid durable structure that is built to last as opposed to inexpensive flimsy cloth panels prone to many problems.
The sCharger-12 provides two independent USB circuits to safely isolate on-charge devices from feeding back on each other. Up to 14 Watts total availability across both USB ports under optimal conditions.
Many claimed USB solar chargers lack the high currents needed to charge sufficiently. Some get around the lower solar output currents by slow charging an attached battery pack first. It can take them up to 15 hours to charge the attached battery pack in full sun, then a few more hours to charge your device from the battery pack. The sCharger-12 needs no battery. It pumps power right into your device directly.We do not discourage using portable stand alone USB batteries. They are very useful for backup power. The sCharger-12 does a great job at quickly charging them and other standalone batteries such as AA and AAA batteries within a few hours. This is because the sCharger-12's powerful solar array.
When researching solar chargers, don't be caught off guard with the many 12 volt solar chargers out there. They are not optimally setup to do USB charging. Some down convert 12 volts into USB 5 volts which is very inefficient.
